A charter was issued by the National Veterans of Foreign Wars to members to members organized in Trotwood, Ohio on 6 April 1995. This Post is to be known as:

TROTWOOD MEMORIAL VFW POST 4270

* * * * * * * * * *

When the charter was issued the Post consisted of twenty-five members. These men served honorably in the service of the United States of America. We now have thirty-five members.

Our members perform volunteer work at local hospitals and the USO Center at the Dayton International Airport, Vandalia, Ohio.

We have made several contributions to organizations that assist veterans, needy family member of veterans, and have given donations to organizations throughout the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

This past year we participated in the placing of markers and American flags on veterans graves at the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery on North Dixie Drive on Memorial Day. The two previous years Post 4270 held ceremonies at Ellerton Cemetery in Ellerton, Ohio.

At the present time our Post is looking to increase its membership, including establishing a Ladies Auxillary, and finding a new home.

We are a young Post with tax-exempt status and limited monetary resources. We are looking for someone to donate a facility in return for a tax credit.

We need a new home of our own which hopefully will bring in more members along with the establishment of a Ladies Auxillary, and sure would appreciate all the help we can get.

Thank you,

Robert E. Streavel, Past Commander
