Maestro


                       















   Each Maestro instructional video is designed to help give beginners the best possible start in learning to play any of ten classic musical instruments. From how to care for and hold the instrument to how to actually play it - it's all there.

   Lasting an average of 52 minutes, each video contains between six and ten lessons presented by highly experienced music teachers in a clear and concise fashion with actual students demonstrating each new skill. Beginners will learn specific techniques as well as the basic notes necessary to play simple songs.

   Topics covered in each video include posture, notes, hand positions, reading music, breathing (for wind instruments), playing the instrument and much, much more. Each lesson is reinforced with a free instructional booklet included with each video.




   Your teacher for the "Maestro" VIOLIN is BILL SCUTT. Bill earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in 1950. He received his Master of Music Degree from the University of Illinois in 1953. Bill has a very distinguished career as an Educator, teaching in the Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio Public School systems from 1950 through 1988.
   He has been a Private Teacher for over 40 years and many of his students have won scholarships and other awards. As a performer, Bill held the first Violin seat with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra from 1953 - 1980. His Virtuoso Performances span the spectrum from Symphony Orchestras, to Chamber Music Programs and various Church Performances. Bill is dedicated to Music Education and is an Active member of the Ohio Music Educators Assoc.. Music Educators National Conference, National School Orchestra Assoc., and the American String Teachers Assoc..

   Your teacher for the "Maestro" CELLO is DOUG BRUESTLE. Doug earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in 1977 and is in the progress of completing his Master of Music Degree from the same University. Doug has an impressive record as a Public Educator. In 1972 Doug began as a Public School Teacher in the Cincinnati School System. Since 1980 he has taught grades 4-12 at the Fairfield City Schools as Orchestra Director and Music Supervisor, Ohio. He is also Music Director for the Middletown Youth Symphony and also devotes his time as Musical Director to the Chancel and Bell Choir of a Cincinnati Church Organization. As a performer Doug has been the Principle Cellist with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, B.C. Canada.

   Your teacher for the 'Maestro" VIOLA is KATHRYN RODRIGUEZ. Kathryn earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. From 1984 until the present she has been active as a Private instructor as well as a Public Educator. Her Public Educator experience ranges from teaching 1 st through 8 th grade in General Music, Chorus, and all levels of Violin and Viola classes, in the Cincinnati, Ohio School system. As a Private String Instructor she has taught Pre-school through High School level students in Violin and Viola, utilizing Suzuki and other instructional methods. Kathryn also performs with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, White Water Opera Company and is extremely active in Community activities.

   Your teacher for the "Maestro" FLUTE is REBECCA TRYON ANDRES (Rebecca Magg). Rebecca received her Diplome d'Etudes from the Acadamie Internationale d'Ete in Nice, France in 1971. She earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from Ohio State University and went on to receive her Master of Music Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1976. As a teacher, Rebecca has taught at Akron University, Northern Kentucky University, University of Dayton and the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati where she has been a faculty member since 1984 and an Assistant Professor of Flute. Rebecca is also an Accomplished Performer playing with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra in the position of Principle Flute since 1988 through the present. She also performs with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra. Rebecca has been the recipient of many awards and honors, the most recent being The Winner in the Convention Performers Competition, National Flute Association, 1990.

   Your teacher for the "Maestro" CLARINET and the "Maestro" SAXOPHONE is RON REYNOLDS. Ron earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Dayton in 1960, where he Majored in Music Composition and Theory. His many talents include being a Musical Director, Arranger, Composer, Saxophonist, Clarinetist, Flutist & Vocalist. He has been a Private Teaching Instructor since 1969. Ron is very active as a Musicial Director for various Church Choirs and has performed in many Orchestras and Choirs through out his career.

   Your teacher for the "Maestro" TRUMPET is DREW CREMISIO. Drew earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from Murray State University, Kentucky in 1983. He is an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music and went on to receive his Master of Music Degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in 1990. Drew has been a private Trumpet Instructor since 1980 and has been a teacher in the Public School System since 1985, and is currently teaching at both levels. Drew is a consummate performer and his professional accomplishments range from appearing with Brass & Percussion Ensembles to Principle Trumpet with the Cincinnati Philharmonic Orchestra and concerts with such noted musicians as John Clayton and Ed Shaughnessy. His personal awards include the Kool Jazz Festival Award (1982) and The Art Farmer Jazz Master Award (1983).

   Your teacher for the "Maestro" TROMBONE is HAL HARRIS. Hal earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in 1951 and went on to receive his Master of Music Degree from the same University in 1956. His teaching experience as a Public Educator spans a period of 30 years (1954-1984).
   Hal has taught at various Ohio Public Grade and High Schools and at Wright State University. He has been a Private Instructor and Performer. His Performance Resume includes touring with the Tex Beneke and Glenn Miller Orchestras as well as playing with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1958 to the present, Hal has been the Leader and Featured Trombonist of the "Hal Harris Orchestra".

   Your teacher for the "Maestro" TUBA is MATTHEW BORGER. Matthew earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio in 1981. He received his Master of Music Degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in 1984. Matthew has been a teacher for the Dayton, Ohio School System, specializing in grades 5 - 8 as an Instrumental Music and Low Brass Instructor.
   From 1981 - 1988 Matthew was a member of the Associate Faculty of Music for Wright State University where he was the Tuba Instructor, Director of the University Jazz Ensemble and Tuba Ensemble. He has also been a private Tuba Instructor since 1980 teaching students from age 11 up to Adult. Matthew's performances range from being a founding member of the Ohio Valley Tuba Quartet to Dance Orchestras, Philharmonic Orchestras and is currently Principle Tuba with the Springfield (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra. (1978 - 1991)

   Your teacher for the "Maestro" SNARE DRUM is MAT BRITAIN. Mat earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from Wichita State University in 1985. Between 1983 through to the present Mat has been a Percussion Instructor at various Ohio High Schools and is currently Teaching at the University of Dayton, (Ohio). He is a Percussion Clinician and Advisor for College and High School Ensembles throughout the U.S.. Mat is a consummate performer and is a specialist on the steel drums. He has performed at more than 75 Universities and public schools as a member of the Britain-Moore Percussion Duo. He is a certified Clinician-Adjudicator by the Ohio Music Educators Assoc. and has performed with such noted musicians as: Dave Samuels, Ed Shaughnessy and Danny Gottlieb to name just a few.


   The "Maestro" series won an honor in the catogory of 'Most Innovative Educational Product' in 1993. All of the above information was correct as of 1992 when the "Maestro" series was completed. The above teachers personal input and professional teaching skills makes the "MAESTRO SERIES" very special indeed!
